Another Rails World is over and I am heading home with the rare kind of motivation that actually makes me want to simplify things.

What I liked most was not only the feature list around Rails 8.1. It was the direction: less ceremony, better defaults and more confidence that small teams can still build complete products without turning every idea into a stack of services.

That is the part I want to bring back to my own work. Keep the product close to the code. Make the boring paths strong. Choose tools that help real users instead of tools that only look impressive in architecture diagrams.

Hopefully I will be back next year in Austin, Texas. Conferences are easy to over-romanticize, but this one still leaves me with the useful kind of energy: a few concrete ideas and a clearer sense of what I want to build next.
